Masterspec Specified: The Pine House

Situated on a steep, east-facing slope in central Nelson, this residential project by Karsten Architecture Limited has won two ADNZ awards. The residential project was carefully designed to capture sweeping views of the Grampians Hills, with a strong focus on locally sourced, sustainable timber.
Masterspec Specified: Te Ara Pounamu

The facility was conceptualized to house an interactive experience developed in collaboration with Weta Workshop, detailing the heritage and pounamu trade of Poutini Ngāi Tahu. The dominant architectural gesture is a protective overhead canopy symbolizing the pākē (flax cloak) worn by Chief Tūhuru, who historically guarded the regional pounamu from outside raiding parties.
Masterspec Specified: The Clearing House

Situated at the base of a winding access road below an urban development, the Clearing House is sited to foster a daily connection between its residents and the surrounding ecosystem. The property is bounded by mature trees that secure visual and acoustic privacy from the adjacent Ōmokoroa coastal cycleway, while a small stream traces the site boundary.
