PHOTOVOLTAIC STANDARDS CHANGE
1 November 2016
The Masterspec section 7717 PHOTOVOLTAIC POWER SYSTEM (available in Standard, Services, Landscapes, Structural & Civil) has used the set of three Standards AS 4777 Grid Connection Of Energy Systems Via Inverters. Parts 1 & 2 have now been updated and made into AS/NZS versions, while part 3 has been integrated into the new part 2.
The new part 2 has just ended a twelve month transitional period with the old Standards, and the new part 1 is in the middle of a 6 month transitional period with the old Standard. Part 1 has some smaller individual items that have a longer transitional period. The transitional periods allow use of old or new Standards.
The new Standards are:
- AS/NZS 4777.1: 2016 Grid connection of energy systems via inverters - Installation requirements
- AS/NZS 4777.2: 2015 Grid connection of energy systems via inverters - Inverter requirements
These new Standards are much more comprehensive in relation to technical and safety features, as well as allowing higher voltage systems. It is worth noting that the new AS/NZS 4777 Standards are to be used in conjunction with AS/NZS 3000 Electrical installations & AS/NZS 5033 Installation and safety requirements for photovoltaic (PV) arrays (currently under review by Standards New Zealand), even though these Standards are older and refer to the old versions of AS 4777.
Masterspec has updated 7717 PHOTOVOLTAIC POWER SYSTEM with the new Standards AS/NZS 4777.1 and AS/NZS 4777.2 added and the old Standards AS 4777.1 to 3 deleted.
