AMENDMENTS TO NZBC G4 VENTILATION, NZBC G10 PIPED SERVICES AND NZBC G11 GAS AS AN ENERGY SOURCE

Published 29 March 2017

Amendments to NZBC G4, G10 and G11 Acceptable Solutions mostly revolve around the update of AS/NZS 5601.1: Gas Installations - General Installations, from 2010 version to 2013 version (plus amendments 1 & 2).  Although the main part of the new Standard has a similar range to the old version, the appendices have increase considerably.

All of the Acceptable Solutions allow the use of AS/NZS 5601.1 as an Acceptable Solution (see below) except for the Standard's Section 2 Performance-Based Design and Other Essential Requirements.

NZBC G4 VENTILATION (Amendment 4)

Except for the small update to Workplace Exposure Standards (VM1) changes relate to AS/NZS 5601.1.  NZBC G4/AS1, section 3.0 Another Solution For Gas-fuel appliances, has been amended to allow the full use of AS/NZS 5601.1 (except for section 2) as another Alternative Solution.

NZBC G10 PIPED SERVICES (Amendment 8)

Except for a minor change to NZS/BS 1387, the changes relate to NZBC G10/AS1, section 5.0 Another Solution For Gas-fuel Appliances, which has been amended to allow the full use of AS/NZS 5601.1 (except for section 2) as another Alternative Solution.

NZBC G11 GAS AS AN ENERGY SOURCE (Amendment 6)

Changes are solely to do with AS/NZS 5601.1. NZBC G11/AS1, section 9.0 Another Solution For Gas-fuel appliances, has been amended to allow the full use of AS/NZS 5601.1 (except for section 2) as another Alternative Solution.  Section 9.0 says that AS/NZS 5601.1 (except for section 2) is an Acceptable Solution for paragraphs 1.0 to 8.0 of G11/AS1, which basically means it is an Acceptable Solution for the whole of G11/AS1.
