JMF TIMBER WINDOW AND DOOR JOINERY CAN NOW BE SPECIFIED ON A PERFORMANCE BASIS
Traditionally timber windows and doors have only been an acceptable method under the NZ Building Code on an "In-Service History" basis. However the joinery industry have been working towards a more certain route to acceptance for timber window and doors under the NZ Building Code; the same as that is achieved for aluminium window and door joinery.
JMF NZ LTD was formed as a partnership between New Zealand Master Joiners and McNaughton Windows and Doors to undertake a rigorous weather tightness testing programme with a number of profiles of Windows and Doors. JMF NZ LTD now have a Website showing a range of products that have been tested and comply with :
- NZS 4211 Specification for performance of windows and
- NZBC E2/AS1 and NZBC E2/VM1
The system can only be manufactured by Joiners that are affiliated to New Zealand Master Joiners and who are authorised to manufacture, there is a list of authorised manufacturers on the JMF NZ LTD website. To comply with NZS 4211 and NZBC E2/AS1 installation must be performed by an appropriate Licensed Building Practitioner in a residential project.
Members of the group are also able to provide assistance to building consent authorities, specifiers and tradespeople that specify or use these products by providing drawings, specifications and installation instructions. You can register for detailed information, drawings etc. here.
Masterspec have released a new section covering the range, entitled 4511JF JMF EXTERIOR TIMBER WINDOWS AND DOORS available in Standard and Basic.
