INTERNATIONAL BIM OBJECT STANDARD TO BE RELEASED
In 2015, Masterspec NZ, NATSPEC (Aust.) and the NBS (National Building Specification UK) agreed to work together to create an International BIM Object Standard using the existing award-winning NBS BIM Object standard as the starting point. In December, an initial draft was sent to a number of industry experts in Australia and New Zealand for review.
Comments on the draft – from both internal and external reviewers – have been evaluated by the three national organisations and changes, where appropriate, have been incorporated into a second draft.
The Standard will consist of a core document that includes all items that represent a common approach, plus individual national appendices to accommodate local needs that are the inevitable product of differences in building and procurement practices, building products and regulatory frameworks.
This final draft, including guidance notes and supporting information, is scheduled to be widely circulated for review and consultation within the New Zealand, Australian and the UK construction industries during April 2016. If you would like to receive a copy of the standard for review and feedback email Masterspec here to register your interest.
